FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 2, 2020

Every Tray Counts is pleased to announce that Stacy Ahua has been named the organization’s next executive director, succeeding current executive director and founder Sue Scope. Stacy has started in her new role as of December 1.

Stacy is a native of Hattiesburg, MS. She previously served as Director of Volunteer Southeast Mississippi at United Way of Southeast Mississippi before relocating to join the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina in 2019. In addition to years of volunteer coordination and program management, Stacy is bringing almost a decade of organizational development and logistics experience to Every Tray Counts.

“I’m delighted to be joining the Every Tray Counts team,” Ahua said. “We have a unique opportunity to put our mission for more ecologically-focused practices at the forefront of schools around the state of North Carolina. I’m eager to hit the ground running and to build on the years of remarkable work that Sue put into creating and expanding this organization.”

“The Every Tray Counts’ Board of Directors is so excited to have Stacy join our team,” said Every Tray Counts board president, Shannon Culpepper. “As ETC is in the process of learning how to grow as a statewide organization we are grateful to have Stacy’s experience and skill set. ETC would not exist without Sue Scope and we are so thankful she will continue to be a part of the team by joining the Board of Directors,” continued Culpepper.

Sue Scope stated, “Every Tray Counts began with the mission of promoting and helping to implement responsible purchasing and waste diversion practices in North Carolina schools. It has become an important part of the North Carolina sustainability community dedicated to improving the environmental footprint of one of our largest institutions.”

Please join Every Tray Counts Board of Directors in welcoming Stacy to our organization and to the work of making North Carolina healthier and more sustainable for our students and community.

Every Tray Counts works to establish permanent sustainability practitioners and environmental educators within the school administration and staff as well as strong community advocates in each school district. ETC has helped schools divert tons of compostable waste to a compost facility, and removed thousands of polystyrene trays from the waste stream.
