A group of students at the University of Toledo (UT) in Toledo, Ohio took the Redox kiosk idea and developed a community-based organics collection system called “Greenbox” in which organic material will be collected and sent to an anaerobic digestion facility. The EPA awarded this team of UT students $15,000 in grant funding to participate in a national competition to design solutions for a sustainable future. The team was able to create a functional prototype and a business model. What a great innovation.
